Speedo Playing up

Post by bazza696 »

Just came back from Brands Hatch via Tony's and the speedo started playing up, dropping to zero and the little miles LCD kept going off at the same time.

Half way home the rev counter started to blip as well.

done a search on here and results all lead to a dying R/R.

I confused as I have an new finned RR fitted 3 years ago, but this is the first big run out after fitting one of the yellow upgraded batteries.

I will check the RR tomorrow but could the new battery overloaded the RR causing it to pack up?

I might be wrong but it sounds like a bad earth / loose connector behind the clocks

It'll be a loose connection, if both speedo and rev counter are doing it it's probably an earth rather than live side problem.

Have a look at the green wires going to the back of the clocks. There are several little ring terminals fixed with small screws, they often corrode slightly.

If needed, though, I have a spare set of MPH clocks.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
