Problem re-fitting a front wheel.

Post by Stormy Steve »

I just had some new boots, fitted to the storm.

I taken wheels out before & refitted them, but this time?

I've re-fitted the rear wheel, that all went ok.The problem is the front wheel.

It all came apart easily, but on the side of the front wheel spindle.

Where the holes are, to put a screwdriver through. The sleeved part of the spindle, won't fit back through the hole in the fork???

It is a very tight fit.The pinch bolts, are all slack.

I just don't know what's causing this? The spindle just usually slots through?

Any ideas please.

Steve. :wtf:

Just to state the obvious...

You are putting it through the right way? Screwdriver holes on the left as you sit on the bike.

Try pushing a flat blade screwdriver into the split and hold it apart while assembling it,
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I think this may have been caused by the fork leg length being misaligned, once the spindle is out then one leg can extend more than the other; the mudguard will flex a bit.

If it happens again try just pushing the bike slightly to one side or the other, as you push the spindle in.
