Meta 351A Alarm

Post by VTRDark »

I got a Meta 351A alarm that came with the bike with only one key fob. Before you say it, yes I know I should remove the bloody thing. Now I could most probably trace the wires back through the loom cut, re-solder etc but that is a bit of a pain. It would help if I had a proper installation guide/wiring diagram.

A: this would be good for removal purposes (In the future)
B: I can check it over thoroughly to make sure it's wired up correctly maybe tidy it up somewhat, check connection etc
C: If I do have any problems with it (none so far, touch wood) I can sort it out.

Anyone got install instructions out there? I have searched high and low all over the net, forums, fileservers, etc to no avail.

I managed to find the single page bit of rubbish user guide for what it was worth. But I read somewhere that if another key was purchased, it can be configured to my alarm via the remote key I have already. I think it was via aiming the key I have at the new one, and some kind of key combination. Anyone know anything about this?

I know it will give me grief one day and I intend on purchasing spare remote batteries to carry on bike. The stupid thing stopped working on me the other day because me the stupid thing threw a bucket of water over it while washing the bike. I should have taken the keys out the ignition first  took it apart dried the batteries and everything worked fine.

In case it does immobilize itself on me one day when I am in the middle of the sticks, is there a way to re-mobilize it temporary by disconnecting anything under the seat or cutting a wire somewhere? I'm wondering whether it's possible just get rid of the immobilizer side of it altogether keeping the rest of the alarm working.

Any help with this would be great, especially the wiring diagram/install instructions. I know I should really take it out but it's great for keeping the local kids/teenage thugs at bay. Not even a kryptonite lock would stop a professional thief, they would just take the lampost or whatever you have attached it too away with the bike.

Cheers
