Connecting hose permanently for carb balancing

Post by benh89 »

Hi guys. When the weather clears up I'll be balancing the carbs and I want to permanently attach hoses to the bike in order to make it a simple process in the future. I've read the guide in the knowledgebase and am in the process of buying the parts I need. I noticed the take-off point on the front cylinder is plugged with a brass item already (see picture). Do you think this is a brass vacuum adapter? I would go and look myself, but it's raining and I don't have the tank and airbox off yet.

Also, I need some help with setting up the carbs, specifically, shimming the needles. I posted a question here: http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=23455 . If you could take a look, that would be appreciated.

Cheers, Ben.

Looks like someone has done the hard work for you. That bolt is a wombles to get to!

You may want to attach vaccum hose's on a more perminent basis. Saves you attaching the hoses each time, as you need nimbble fingers to get in there.

The ends of mine are run to under the seat so I can conviently attach a cartune. I then have them capped off like the one in your picture, when not in use.

Have fun
