Evening gents need to pick your older, wiser and more experienced brains.
i need to change the chain and sprox soon and im thinking about going up on the rear by 2 for a bit more poke nothing to drastic would it be wise to get a chain with an extra link or will standard length fit and be OK?
will get a speedo healer to correct the speedo difference but im unsure how to calculate the percentage it will be out are there any easy ways to do this?
will 43t make a subtle but noticeable difference?

I've not tried +2 on rear, on a firestorm, but my fireblade had a +2 on rear and it just fits with standard chain, although you will have a slightly shorter wheelbase.
Defiantly worth it, gives a lot more grunt, although you will lose about 10mph, of your top speed, not that you need it, +2 on rear gives extra 4.7% of torque.
I now use -1 front, plus +1 rear this keeps standard size wheelbase, and gives you 8.5% extra torque, what you gain in torque, you lose in top speed.

Kyran, going up two teeth on the rear sprocket will not give an earth shattering experience, but it will mean it's not revving too much going down the motorway or bypass if you lower the gearing even more IMHO.
It will make a noticeable difference (as Luca says) and is a very nice mod to make, worth trying for yourself. Iirc correctly, for a speedo healer you need to program in a 10% difference for a +2 rear sprocket, but do check this for yourself. They did have an online calculator specifically for that. The standard chain will take the bigger sprocket, but the wheel will be pushed forward almost as far as it can go, that in itself will quicken up the steering a little, as the wheelbase will be slightly shorter.

Stupid phone small difference to start with and as I do alot of two up work dont want it massively front wheel happy missus would hurt me lol

43 sprocket is nice mod, difference on speedo (and on rear wheel as well) is 5% higher. You can use stock chain lenght and shorten wheel base a little. Biggest difference is bikes goes better at low rpm´s, but gears are stil long enough not to compromise driveability.

I have a 43 as well, it seems to make the bike more controllable in heavy traffic and very low speeds.
Can't say I have noticed any other differences, but then after riding a 1980's bike since it was new it all seems marvellous!

Did you mean +3 on rear? I may be wrong but, I thought taking one of the front was the equivalent of adding 2 to rear.just drop the front down by 1 that will give you =3 on the rear
