Removing glue residue from SS

Post by seb421 »

Just spent the last two hours cleaning one of the two scorpion cans i have for sale,

my arm is now wombles dead, i used hot boiling water, soapy water, scrubbing brush, my nail and peek polish and a t-shirt

what a bitch it was to remove that stuff, the one can is now spotless but i don't want to have to work that hard at the other

I cant be arsed to tackle the other one right now as i want to get some tea on before work etc

Is there anything i can buy from halfords that is good to use that wont colour the metal a funny colour? i used something once on an old set of discs and it turned them pink! think it was wonder wheels alloy cleaner, don't want that.

Any tips to remove glue left over from removed Hi-viz tape?

Is it best to attempt it dry or wet?

Thanks if you can help

I use tar & glue remover to get rid of the residue from the wrap on my van, as well as left by masking tape and duct tape

Works a treat

tar and bug/glue remover will do the job, just use a cloth and rub it gently and it will come of easily. if you use heat it will become to messy.....

I would try WD40, or brake cleaner, but try on a non-visible area first.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Mr Sheen furniture polish removes sticky stuff too. Spray it on and leave it for 15 mins and rub it off  If you dont have Mr Sheen any furniture polish should do.
