powerbronze lowers fitting question

Post by agentpineapple »

i've been trying to fit my powerbronze lowers, without much luck tbh, i have the brackets that supplied with the lowers, but after looking at pictures supplied by fellow members(thanks chaps) i'm thinking that there is still something missing, i was wondering if i need the brackets from the original honda bikini fairing aswell, perhaps thses fit to the bike and then the powerbronze brackets fit onto them. i'm clutching at straws tbh, i can't see any other way other than to make some brackets up......
in these two pictures you can see the 2 different brackets, i have the orange ones(powerbronze) but the blue brackets are not on my bike, are these the original honda bikini fairing brackets????????

and the standard small pan fittings ARE used - see the PDF Powerbronze fitting instructions uploaded & linked to a while back
3) Bolt bracket VTR LF to the front belly pan mount VTR R/H to the right side belly pan mount and bracket VTR LL/H to the inside of the side stand mounting...using M10 bolts ...with washers as spacers.

cheers lads, i'm still confused tho, in the pictures where i have highlighted in blue, i don't have these brackets, for example next to the oil filter, there is nothing for the powerbronze bracket to attach to. worst ways i'll bring what i have to the workshop day so you can see for yourselfs. i might still stick a thread in the sales and wants section, asking if anyone has any standard brackets for sale.
very bloody confusing indeed.... :x

I think what you need is the original bikini belly pan brackets (which your bike is missing) and then the powerbronze ones attach to them.

Yes most definitely Marty (I should know as those photo's are from me, ), as the others have said, you are missing the two original brackets for the standard original bikini fairing.

Do you mean the oil pipes :?: If so I usually have them coated with grease most of the time to try and help stop them rusting anymore. The only trouble with that is, the grease attracts road dirt and dust, so they end up going black quite quickly. They do look good though when you wipe the dirty grease off as above, which I do every so often then re-apply new grease.

If you mean the headers have a look here;-

talk about a pain in the butt.....grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!
i had another go at fitting the lowers properly today, i got the o/s bracket on without any problems(the one in the top picture)
i have a couple of questions about the other two brackets tho, the one to the rear/underside of the lowers, does it fit to the back of the sidestand bolt?
the other question is the one thats pissed me off, seb kindly sent me 2x original bellypan brackets needed to fit the lowers brackets to, as i said one fits fine, but the one in the second picture doesn't look or fit correctly.
in the picture the bracket outlined in blue, bolts up into the sump but as it comes around to the front of the engine(next to the oil filter) it turns downwards rather than upwards as in the picture, which means it doesn't line up, i've tried all the options, but it just isn't right. i'm not having a go at seb, but is it possible its the wrong bracket?
i'll take some pictures in a mo and try and show what i mean..... :x
Image
i can't see any other way of mounting this bracket, it looks like it needs to bolt into the sump from the side but that isn't possible because there isn't any bolt holes, only from underneath using the sump bolts.....

Marty this is causing you a right headache :eh:
Here's a couple of pic's showing what the standard bracket should look like, I agree, looking at your photo that bracket doesn't look like the right one to me either.

You're right about the rear bracket bolting to the back of the side stand. You need a metric fine thread 10mm bolt for that.
