wsb misano

Post by benny hedges »

all week i have been gathering bits n bobs for a euro trip on the sp2...

new dunlop sportmax (wery nice tyres)
wheel bearings front n back
new ebc hh pads all round (amazed it still had the oem nissin pads in lol)
new brake n clutch fluid
oil n filter
new plugs - what a difference that made :o
12v charge socket
tomtom euro satnav :)
nice set of revit throwovers
afam hd xring chain, renthal sprox in 16/41 & 15 for shits and giggles (awesome!)
12 oclock labs speedo healer (not fitted it yet tho)
got some new coolant to put in shortly as the res was a bit low and dont like topping it up with water.
got some 100% glycol in the garage so may use that tbh - works well on my other bikes :)

also treated myself to some nice rst perforated leathers cos its goner be scorchio lol...
won a new visor off fleabay off some bint... when i went to collect it, for some reason it wouldnt fit my lid (same lid) so i tried it on hers and it went straight on.... said tell u what, ill give u £30 for the visor and your lid....
ok then! :o
so got a new shoei lid and dark & clear visors for 30 notes lol. bargin!

getting the ferry from hull to rotterdam then making our way down over the alps and should land in san marino late on the friday night.... got free passes to the wsb for the weekend then make our way back the twisty way to get the ferry early hrs of the 13th... think i fkt up with the hols from work though as i said i'll be back in on the 14th...... i think i'll only be back in uk like early hrs of the 14th so it'll be a long day if i go in work! :Ball Kick:

some of the lads are just getting off the ferry and pinning it down the mways straight to italy but cba with that lol... didnt spend £240 on tyres to burn them up on a straight road!
a few others are going playing on the ring for a day or 2 but been there, done that... it's the alps passes i want to to... baden baden, stelvio etc...
works out we have to do 350-450 miles a day which is easily do-able if the average speed is high enough - will post some pics when i get back :)

also, was warned about the new speed cameras all over france.... theyre all forward facing though apparently which is a bonus for us bikers! but you cant use camera warnings on your satnav - 200 euro fine!!! and also the nickings from france go on your uk licence! :o

just got my drift hd170 cam out but cant find the bloody 32gb sd card :Ball Kick:

fkin daft innit.
and the GB sticker on the reg plate is a requirement in italy. they get a bit pissy about it apparently.
i bought one yesterday but its too big to stick on the plate!

benny, check on the ferry, they have a full list of each country's needs. And they sell what you won't have, not too expensive, I said to myself last time I was not going to buy anything until the ferry and then stock up with the right stuff, saves buying too much.

so far, the things i'm aware of that i'll need to pack to comply with euro regs....

full set of spare bulbs (just cost me £47 lol)

first aid kit (not a legal requirement on bikes but recommended)

gb sticker on reg plate (pretty arsy about this in itally apparently)

hi vis (france - if we cross the border)

diy breath tester kit (only law from july but thought id best take a pack just in case)

also in france, it's recently been bladdered with speed cameras... i heard theyre all forward facing so not such a risk on the bike, but.... satnav can't be set to alert when near a camera = 200 euro fine - the latest tomtom updates have a fix which removes camera alerts when in france.

also any points collected in france go straight on your uk licence... can anyone confirm this?

was told in germany they dont like mismatched tyre brands... ie a dunlop front & pirelli rear...

and whats the situation with headlamp cut, as in the beam cut.... used to be you had to put a shade sticker on the lens???

no petrol cans... which will be an butt - just have to set satnav to alert petrol stations... got a euro tomtom that tells how near a petrol stop is and how far to the next one, which im sure will be handy

paperwork.... licence, insurance and proof of euro recovery?
do i need to take the v5 as well as someone suggested?

dark visors? are these legal in euroland?

baffles.... can see me getting a fine for no baffles but crouton em, im not butchering my akros to satisfy some garlic munchin goat shagger.

anything else i may have overlooked???
(apart from codnoms and niagra!)

Watch out for them speed cameras mate, they are not all forward facing, and the police are very good at hiding behind a bush or two with the speed gun..
enjoy your trip and keep it rubber side down..
