Fan cutting in temp / Fan switch location

Post by sirloveyou »

Hi
Properly being over cautious here, but when on the temp gauge does the fan kick in ? I came home tonight and parked up the storm I was letting it idle while I wiped it down, I noticed the gauge went past the half mark closer to the 3/4 mark, the fan did not kick in so I turned it off as it was smelling abit warm ! On peavies bikes ive had the fan kicks in just after the half way mark.
If its ment to kick in then, where is the fan switch so I can test it ? Is located in the rad or is it one of the sensors thats in the thermostat housing ?

It should kick in roughly just over the half way mark. You will find the switch on the front side of the right hand rad. The wire connector block can can get caught on the fairing as it's a tight fit there, so check that out it may have got caught or become dislodged. You could also check that the fan is working by running some wires directly of the fan to the battery.
