Dyno Run

Post by Griff1977 »

Well I went for my first Dyno run today. I knew it might throw up small probs with having the K & N in and a bit of popping at low revs (more than "normal") so was quite looking forward to it.

I used a mobile one, run by DRS in Hull and went to their shop.

The bloke was great, James. He talked through the process and did a few runs before the final one that produced the power/torque print out. He flicked through other screens whilst doing it and said that it is overall running quite lean but the K & N explains that, also it misfires lower down (you can see its unhappy at 4k-4.5k); now only 2 weeks ago I changed (after the failure) the rear coil, so this poss could be plugs or the front coil giving probs but ive got new plugs ready and I want to do the stick coils mod at some point so this will help I guess.

The peak results are pleasing - 102.4bhp and 87.5NM tq so happy. Ill take the K & N out for now and plan my cans/jetting for the new year maybe, then. I am mostly a happy chap!!!

Al. No I looked at them but plan to use him again so will ask next time! (I forgot to get them off him I mean!).

He said its a strong engine. I'll prob get him to Dyno it with a kit once I've got new cans. I like Arrow but don't think they do for many older bikes? Love the Akro's!! Plenty of time to look!

Any tips on raising the rear of the tank for better access to air box - I know the toolkit has a raising device/piece of metal but I haven't got original toolkit! I find it diff to lift tank whilst getting access to air box to change filter.

Mate just undo the front two bolts, loosen the long bolt and hinge the tank back to a seat latch hook with some string or a bungee cord or similar

That's a great torque figure, you will be having fun with that...
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Dave. When you blip throttle it pops a bit. Not all out of the ordinary for a firestorm!? Having the dyno run done has amplified what I was feeling but assuming was normal. Ill change plugs & consider the stick coil mod!? Griff.

I'm disappointed there's no A/F scale, it the most exciting part. :( Kinda interesting looking at the HP/Torque at different RPMs on the tight though.

Yep, new plugs & back to original filter. Haven't been out on it but hope to tomorrow. A quick blast around Yorkshire I hope! Griff.
