feel lucky

Post by rich 1 »

went for a ride with some mates the other night had a good time with a few fast corners here and there but it felt like big brother could be watching all the time with speed cameras unmarked cars and it does take the fun out off it sometimes. i was thinking back to my younger days when me and me mates used to meet up for an ice cream run down the coast on a summers evening and we used to ride the socks off our bikes without the worry you get now days no speed cameras no unmarked cars and the law was not that worried. ok we had a few spills here and there and i ache in the winter months for it but we certainley enjoyed those days. so when i see these young kids on there new 600,s i do feel lucky that i was able to ride my bikes fast without the worry these kids have now days. does anyone else think they were lucky to ride there bikes fast in the days before big brother turned up or is it just me.

Not just riding bikes fast but lots of things. When I think back to when I was young and the stuff me and my mates used to get away with. I can totally understand why the youngsters like to where a hood. Driving through country villages late at night was a favourite one, with cherry bombs on the car exhaust, or poaching on someone land with an air rifle. I didn't have a care in the world but as I'm getting older I'm becoming a bit more sensible. I do get a little paranoid sometimes when I'm riding the bike and my eyes are always on the look out for old bill. But it's getting difficult to spot them in unmarked vehicles as they seem to drive or ride anything these days. There was a time when they would only drive fords, vauxhall's, and rovers or ride BMWs' and they where easy to spot, but now it's a different story. Some of these cameras are so advanced now and they can see you before you see them. But what has changed thing in the biggest way is the computers and all the data being accessed. There's no more going down the cop shop with a producer to prove your insured. How times have changed. Whether it's for the better or not I don't know.

a couple off mates have been pulled for minor things in the last couple off the days and the coppers have all said the samething. were doing it to keep you safe. sounds fair but now days you get tugged for silly things like overtaking on the wrong lines even though there was sod all else about at the time. dread to think what would happen if you got caught with you knee down or on the back wheel. i remember years ago getting pulled over for pulling a huge wheelie on my fz750 and was told it looked good but try growing up a bit :D those were the days.
