Exhaust hanger?
Just noticed this morning that if you look at the bike from the rear the exhaust position isn't symmetrical (standard exhausts)?
Looking closer the bracket on the exhaust is mounted on different sides of the foot peg hanger, is this normal? Or maybe the previous owner didn't put the exhausts back on properly after maintence?
Cheers Ben

Re: Exhaust hanger?
may be cos of the link pipes not fitted bob on - and the bolt between the link pipe bracket and footpeg bracket missing...
you could try loosening them and line the cans up, then nip it all up again.
another way to remedy this is by undoing the 2 8mm caphead bolts on the hangers/rear pegs and space it out between the subframe and bracket with some m10 washers or a nut.
i did this after (constant) complaints from cheekykev that my cans werent 100% symetrical
you cant see the spacers as they are hidden by the tail plastics

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
Re: Exhaust hanger?
90% of bikes with dual exhausts don't have them lined up perfect,
don't worry about it unless its blowing at the link pipes and its not fitted correctly

Re: Exhaust hanger?
I hated this when I had duel cans :-)
It takes undoing every joint to line them up so they don't look stupid .
Or fit a 2-1 and never worry about it again :-)

Re: Exhaust hanger?
Thanks guys
what I'm thinking is are both cans supposed to be bolted with the exhaust bracket on either the inside or outside of the passenger footprg hanger.
When I look at mine from the rear, the can that's on the right has the bracket to the right of the can and the left exhaust has the bracket to the other side. Does this make sense? I'm thinking they should both be either on the inside of the peg or the outside of the peg?
Cheers

Re: Exhaust hanger?
Put them so they are symmetrical and see which variation best balances them out and maintains clearances. Don't forget to loosen clamps and bolts as needed so everything aligns while keeping a good seal, then tighten back up.Benno_0214 wrote: I'm thinking they should both be either on the inside of the peg or the outside of the peg?

Re: Exhaust hanger?
I would put them on the outside of the lower pegs as well

Re: Exhaust hanger?
They're standard cans, the one is bolted as per your pic but the other is the other side? It hasn't caused me any problems just looks wrong.
Been trying to google for a pic of the bike from the rear to find out if its right.
My bikes in my workshop at work as it was sooooo flooded I didn't attempt to ride home, ideal time to move it tommorrow lunch if its wrong.
Cheers

Re: Exhaust hanger?
Ok excellent, thanks! Can put that right tommorrow
I'm really considering the bafflectomy too, I'm just worried about destroying my standard cans. I can't really justify spending the cash on race cans as I'm having to be tight fisted to save for a house deposit:(
Is it worth doing?
Cheers

Re: Exhaust hanger?
You wont destroy them, It's only a case of drilling multiple holes around in a circler pattern and ripping the baffle out. They will be more saleable with baffles out too when you eventually get some MUCH lighter race cans. Why don't you start with a partial baffelctomy and see how you get on. Drill some holes without ripping the complete baffles out.

have a listern, not as loud as race cans, but a deffo improvement over standard....

HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
Re: Exhaust hanger?
It wont be as loud as race cans but will be a vast improvement over standard. As for the sound, well all cans sound different. Different tones and volumes.
