lowering rider footrests
Fell down a fling of steps and crocked both knees and now find I can't compress my legs in the riding position comfortably.Has anyone had experience of lowering the footpegs to ease off the riding position.I have an idea how to engineer new footpegs themselves but it seems a bit hairbrained.I await the wise words of others.

Re: lowering rider footrests
I know how you fell I have the same problem with my left leg. There are some modified direct replacement pegs on ebay that are about an inch lower. I will try and find them and post a link.
Or some have used Buell footpegs http://www.superhawkforum.com/forums/mo ... ics-18257/
Here's another link to the Vario system http://www.mfw-wolf.de/en/Vario-and-Rep ... t-Footpegs
I need to work out a way of lowering my pegs on my Harris reasets. They are in the lowest mounting hole but are still too high for comfort.

Re: lowering rider footrests
Gents, thank you both for your wisdom and telling me so precisely where to go.!....and so quickly.....
Re: lowering rider footrests
Your welcome.
This time of year is worse for bending the knees with the cold damp weather. I can only bend my left leg to about 90 degrees and it just stops and locks off. It's bone against bone with no fluid in the Patella.
I find when I first get on the bike it's a struggle getting my foot on the peg, but after a few minutes the tendons stretch a bit. It don't stop the old Arthritis though.

Fair point Chris, but a lot of the china stuff is getting better all the time, but this might be too close to the budget end.
Biggest worry would be the pins, but you could get a local shop to replace them with some needle bearings, or weld them up once you found the best setting. And I would make sure I loctited the screws

Very true Alastair
I suppose whoever wants a pair will just have to take a chance, at least it's not quite so much of a risk as a front brake lever from Hong Kong or China,

The biggest problem with the Chinese stuff is that it is a bit hit and miss. Some stuff from there is real good and some is crap with no quality control. But because all their sites look familiar to each other it's hard to determine which is a good company with quality products. So you never now until you try them.

I wouldn't take risks with brakes for sure. I think you're right about Chinese stuff being a bit hit and miss. I noticed the other day we are now selling their cars down herecybercarl wrote:Or brake disksat least it's not quite so much of a risk as a front brake lever from Hong Kong or China,I have heard some horror stories about them.
