Smoking...FAO lloydie

Post by MacV2 »

Lady: Do you smoke?
Man: Yes
Lady: How many packs a day?
Man: 3 packs
Lady: How much per pack
...
Man: £10.00
Lady: And how long have you been smoking?
Man: 15 years
Lady: So 1 pack cost £10.00 and you have 3 packs a day which puts your spending each month at £900. In one year, it would be £10,800 correct?
Man: Correct
Lady: If in 1 year you spend £10,800 not accounting for inflation, the past 15 years puts your spending at £162,000 correct?
Man: Correct
Lady: Do you know that if you hadn't smoked, that money could have been put in a step-up interest savings account and after accounting for compound interest for the past 15 years, you could have now bought a Ferrari?
Man: Do you smoke?
Lady: No

Man: Where's your wombles Ferrari then? :smoke1:

It certainly makes one think. Realisticly over a year with smoking 1 pack a day it would be a saving of approx £3,600. It wouldn't take you long to have enough to get your engine done Lloyd. Maybe 4-6 months

I smoked roll ups at a cost of )12 a week so I've rounded it up to £20 to put away and hope to have £1000 by next winter .
That's if I can that is

I'm on near enough double that for roll ups. This thread has got me thinking cause I want my bike re-sprayed next year amongst other things. I would at least like to cut right down and save a few pennies, but I think that is going to be a struggle and it may be easier for me to go cold turkey. I'm in two minds! Maybe I will start to seriously wean myself off in the new year, the problem is I actually really enjoy a ciggie. I just need to get it down to a sensible limit.

If it takes you 5 mins each day to shave, and you grow a beard, you save 35 minutes each week. But maybe you didn't bother shaving on Sunday, so let's say half an hour a week.
So 26 hours a year.

But maybe you didn't bother shaving at all during your 2 week summer hols lazing around on a beach, so let's knock those off.
But you're still left with a saving of 24 hours a year.

So by not shaving, you can lie in bed a whole day longer every year.

I love logic, me.

( And I've got a beard).
