It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Here's a good link regarding that particular mod
http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... air+filter

I took the bar of my air filter when I first got the bike. I can't say I noticed much if any difference with performance but the intake noise was a noticeable increase.

it would be nice if roger would comment on this....
from what i remember of a convo with him on this- there are big gains to be had from running an open airbox but it requires 'extensive modding' of a stage 3 dyno kit.....
presuming that includes different needles, emulsion tubes, springs etc and other bits and bobs....
the faster you go the more air you push in, and there can be a lot of turbulence that can negate the effects of cramming more air in, especially at low speeds.
that ram air effect is almost impossible to tune on a dyno, so it would be best to rely on the experience of someone like roger who has done shitloads of genuine testing backed up with dyno results.

it's all very well saying it feels 30% smoother lol - wtf does that mean!!!

like when i first put mine back together with the new cams.... wow what a powerband!!! then thanks to andy at j33 dynocentre it became evdent that there was a massive midrange flatspot caused by incorrect slide springs.... once this was corrected the power came in a lot smoother and stronger.

point is, seat of the pants dyno is very inaccurate!
very often, coming off a flatspot can feel like a surge of power.... and sometimes you think it's faster just because it's noisier - especially if you have done a lot of mods at the same time....
and if you do the mods over winter when you havent ridden the bike for 3 months - course it will feel fast when you get back on it lol! :Ball Kick:
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

HRC jet kit has two sets of needles. One lot for open airbox and one lot for enclosed. I believe they also put a lot smaller mains in as well. Something like 150's - 160's. They also cap off the main air jets with open airbox

i have one of rogers engines in another bike , it runs an open airbox , and fuels properly , :D

its very good ,i once put an airbox cover on just to see what it would run like , it didnt !! ... lol

im sceptical myself , ive done a few of the popular mods to my everyday (when the weather picks up ,)  bike ,and its up on the dyno tomorrow ,

the other bike is 120 bhp at last dyno , the daily was 95 , hoping for 100 tomorrow , (no interest in top end on the everyday yoke , just roll on and throttle metering on small throttle , but a good set up bike for midrange should yield a few more horses ) the chassis is sorted :biggrin

the only reason i brought it up is because the auther admits theres no benifits in messing about with there snorkel , and so i thought there might be something in it ...

Ive done it seems to smooth things out abit round town ,intake noise is louder, needs new filter soon so will see the difference when i put that in and may do it again if its lumpy at low revs

the vtr is very sensitive to airbox changes and a small mod can fook up the fueling .
im still trying to smooth out a flat spot in mine but thats from the 2-1 headers .

thats why im sceptical , ive standard airbox / filter / snorkel etc , ill get the jetting right first , i wouldent put a k=n in anything tbh , particularly vtr or a blade

If you were going to remove the blade (Burnie Morgan mod) you can also remove the posts it sits on as well.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
