Clutch Adjustment

Post by slower110 »

Evening all

Is there any adjustment that can be made to the clutch at the clutch end? The lever is set on number 6 but the clutch is dragging. With the lever pulled all the way to the bar it's creeping forward at a standstill and engaging gears is becoming increasingly difficult. Have to switch the motor off to get neutral sometimes.

The clutch is not slipping at all which makes me think it's a case of adjusting it rather than replacement, although I could be completely wrong!

Any help or tips would be much appreciated :)

Replace and bleed the clutch system fluid - if it persists check and replace slave cylinder seals, and inspect the bores of the cylinder.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

+1

Probably air in the system or there is a leak somewhere where air can get in. When was the last time the fluid was changed. You may as well check it over for any ware and tear, sticking piston, put fresh fluid in and bleed. But be warned they are not the easiest to bleed as it takes a long time to get all the air out and the reservoir is small.

yep fresh fluid.
easiest way to change it is remove the bleed nipple completely and just keep adding fluid til it runs clear, making sure the mc doesnt run out or youll get air in.

and remove the sprocket cover / slave cover and clean the pushrod.
(make sure you put it back in the same way it came out!
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
