General consensus on exhaust manufacturers?

Post by Virt »

I'm on my lunch break and looking through exhaust systems available for the firestorm on eBay.. What manufacturers are good to go with and which ones are best to avoid, in terms of quality not sound?

I've found loads by MTC but I've never really heard of them, and some of them do look quite nice. Dunno about their sound yet as that will have to wait until I get home

I know to avoid DanMoto's, and since I personally dislike SP engineerings' sound I'll avoid them too. Who else?

Thanks :D

Scorpions and Leo Vinces are nice yes, obviously heard them on your bike and someones' R6 down at the pitstop the other week. PHWOAR! There is a set on eBay I really like but obviously it's gonna be a couple of months of saving up for them, and I only want one exhaust (similiar to how the hornets' exhaust is. Very high up and on the right) so then what do I do with the left one? And will I be able to use any old firestorm high level link pipes to fit them? Cause if I recall correctly Scorpion do a set of high level cans with link pipes but I dunno...

I'm an apprentice, I'll be skipping out on a months' worth of food as it is just to get ANY pipes  Kind of wanting to stick the sensible amount. Theoretically under £650 or so  Preferably under £500.. I do like my food :(

the student option is to drill out the baffles, it sounds very good and costs nothing.........the only down side is the weight of the cans compared to race cans, but it looks standard and sounds nice

Not 100% sure on Remus cans really. Plus it says high level but only shows one exhaust and no pipes, not really sure about the legitimacy of the ad :confused

I'm thinking of the bafflectomy modification to last me until my restrictors disintegrate in the fiery depths of my err... Carbs. But when it disintegrates I want something to make me stand out more. I love the sound of the firestorm, but it does sound like a sewing machine that overdosed on Steroids sometimes

the full baffle removal sounds very good.........i only changed to race cans for less weight and better looks, but I still prefer the sound from the modified standards. both the bass and the volume were just right

vipers are a good price, I only hate the ones I have cause they are ally and a cow to keep polished.

Just repacked them, and never again, trying to get the end caps in was a bugger and that was the easy part.

I seen them for £250 on ebay from a trader, piper worx are around £330, or Ti cans for just over £400

Remus were the item of choice when Honda produced the Anniversary edition so I would imagine they are reasonable quality.
My Scorpion High level oval carbon fibres were £230 off the Bay when I first got the bike a couple of years back -

They were second hand but in really good nick. I am well plleased with them, with or without baffles.

Guess I'll have a looksie at some Vipers then on the Tube of You and the FleaBay...

Kev, I'm confused. By baffles do you mean hearing aids? As in baffled exhaust = no hearing aid and vice versa? :confused :confused

Definitely I can confirm that Scorpions are nice & well made, have them on this bike & had them on my previous B1200. I have also heard that Beowulf make decent systems as well.
