Along for the ride!
Hello, new member here from the Northern Rivers District, New South Wales, Australia. I recently got my storm after too long on a souless inline four. I love it, the sound, the tourque, the soul and in the real world as quick as anything out there.
I joined because this forum seems to be the best place in the world for advice and experience. Looking forward to learning and contributing where i can. New to the Firestorm but over 20 years riding experience.
My bike is a completely stock 97 with 40,000km. But not for long, double bubble screen, custom seat, carbob pipes and braided lines already ordered.

Re: Along for the ride!
G,day welcome to the forum mate. We have a few aussie members on here so you never know you may be able to meet up for bike talk and a rideout sometime.
I have never heard of a carbob exhaust, be nice to see some pics when done. Have read through the workshop knowlagebase and I'm sure you will be inspired to do a few other thing to customise it the way you want.

Yeh, just be aware that carbon is not the best material for end cans on these bike. Stay away from the cheaper brands.

Excess heat if the packing is not good and high pressure pulses from the big v twin lump.

no point quoting with the image in as it makes the post too long and it bothers me

Re: Along for the ride!
boo hoo, the only reason that carbob can destroyed itself was because lloydie was running a single can and a r6 can to boot, which is way to small for a single v-twin can, and was there any packing left in it????
carbob cans are fine, the better the quality is of course reccomended with nearly anything. arrows, akrapovic, leo vince and many many more produce carbob cans for v-twins, just make sure if you buy secondhand carbob cans that the packings in place.
p.s
i can't stop writing carbob now.....

Re: Along for the ride!
No they are not but considering that can lloyd used was not designed for the VTR and was 2nd hand + the two into one, it's not surprising really.
All I'm saying is to stay away from the cheaper brands and stick to the higher quality carbon cans like Leo ones made for the VTR
Akra's etc. Stay well away from things like the Hong Kong Dan moto's as they will last a year if your lucky.
Personally I prefer Titanium.
