My bikesafe day
Well i went on my bikesafe day this saturday, and it was by far the best biking £10 ive probably ever spent
I picked up some really good tips/info and I'm definitely going to look at doing my IAM stuff now
It did around 1.5 hours slow speed stuff, and im talking SLOW, which ive never really practiced on the vtr, so that was good.
Followed by a break and then around an hour 1-2-1 ride with a police bike following me.
It takes some getting used to cracking over a tonne with a marked bike thats not trying to pull you
We then finished up with around 1.5 hours of classroom stuff discussing everything imaginable from road positioning to filtering etc
I was expecting the officer i went out with to completely rip my riding style to bits lol, but much to my surprise he didnt
He said he could see i obiously know how to handle my machine and that im a very confident rider (i dont think i am particularly) and he marked me A on every aspect of my riding (a-d grading on abut 10 aspects of riding)
He said that the only thing he would pass comment on is the fact that he could feel my excitement (no... ) and that i wanted to speed off a bit quick and i could do with "reigning it in a little" and also that my road positioning is all well and good for taking a fast line or track, but that i could do with using more of my lane to get a better view of the road
all in all i was quite pleased with the outcome of the day, especially considering that in the morning i was so nervous thinking they would think i was sh1t haha
I would recommend it to anyone!!

I'd love to do a bike safe day. Anyone local fancy it?
It's good to have a refresher, even though most of us secretly think we are road riding pro's!

I did the £50 one in 2009 three day course two days in class room and half a day 1-2-1. It was amazing. Well worth the money! and 10% off your insurance by bikesafe reconisized insurers I did mine with the Cheshire constabulary.
