Spyball Alarm Removal

Hi peeps
I wonder if anyone can help. I bought my storm a few months ago and it come with a spyball AM/8510 alarm fitted, I got no documentation with it. It only has 1 key fob with it and I've downloaded an instruction manual but it doesn't make much sense to me. I've had a few issues with it and it now annoys me.

I'm not keen on a key fob being in charge of my bike and not me, if this key fob breaks my bike is rendered useless.

So my question is, is this easy to uninstall ? Can anyone recommend a specialist ?

There's two ways you can go about it. Either replace the whole wiring loom. Or carefully strip back the wiring and disconnect all wires leading from the alarm. Tidy any connections where wires have been cut. and re-tape the loom back up.

No it's simple. The hardest part is stripping the bike down. Fairings off, tank, airbox, carbs and plastic cowl under carbs off. It would take about a 1.5 hours to do.

I got the wiring loom off Slower110 today and noticed different codes on the loom, will this matter?

Handbook wiring diagram says - 0030Z-MBB-6500
Code on the Loom - 32100-MBB-6400

Are there any differences in plug fittings before I disassemble my bike?

What model bike do you have is it pre 2001 or after?? Not sure if it will make much difference but from 2001 on they fitted the HISS system

It's a 1998 model...

I have a '98 loom if you need it, has had the R/R block connector removed & replaced with crimped on terminals from an R6 R/R conversion. Other than that its complete.

Code on the Loom - 32100-MBB-6400

Not sure what the handbook diagram number is about as a google search comes up with nothing. But the code on loom is an early model so as long as you bike is an early model (Non HISS) then your fine.

There are quite a few differences between the early model looms and the later HISS models.

Well, today I tackled the loom change and everything went well.
So may I take this opportunity to thank Carl and MacV2 for their help and advice, much appreciated.

By the way it took me 10 hours, not 1.5 (I did have to repair my rear indicator connection due to corrosion)
