Fork Oil - what weight?

Post by Mav617 »

My forks are going off to Brooks in Bradford (couldn't afford for them to be properly Roger'd), what weight fork oil do you recommend for standard springs (please don't suggest other, expensive ones!!) and a 12 stone rider? Seen mentions of 7.5wt on here, believe standard is 5.0wt?
I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!

Mix 10 and 5 weight to get 7.5 weight if you can't find that weight. There should be one or three threads on the subject. And new springs would be a worth while addition while everything was apart and getting serviced. Bit like putting on the same pair of underpants after having a bath…. ;)
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

IMHO Dave Brook knows his stuff so I would entrust the choice of oil to him when he rebuilds them. I know when he did my SP1 forks he used 5wt as he said anything firmer seemed to upset the balance on the SP. Did a first class job for me and the bike handles like a dream.
