Coolant & Coolant system flush
Coolant & Coolant system flush
Could somebody point me in the right direction to obtain a decent coolant & coolant system flushing product. Not worried about the de-io water as I can make that myself at work with the ro units we have.
Re: Coolant & Coolant system flush
I just did mine. I just bought regular concentrated antifreeze from europarts, and the de io water and mixed it myself, 50/50 as per recommendation. Much cheaper than the bike specific stuff, and does the same job. Look for specific requirements of the antifreeze in the workshop manual here. Plus I still have enough left for next time. Think total cost was about 15 quid iirc. 3 litres of the fuchs or whatever is about 20-25 quid I think. I got 6 litres worth. ( or more ).

Re: Coolant & Coolant system flush
I just used the relevant Halfords stuff after flushing through with a hosepipe. Remember the drain plug on the block too.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Re: Coolant & Coolant system flush
Not really necessary for a flushing liquid/chemical, just run a hose through it for a bit. I don't know if you have a Quickco (used to be perrys ) near you the coolant is even cheaper than Euros (which is cheap anyhow) and that is for the long life stuff suitable for the VTR engine. Just did mine today and also used it on my old storm as well.
Re: Coolant & Coolant system flush
Just make sure it's silicant free, and suitable for alloy engines which most probably are. I got mine from David Silvers, but Halfords did do one that is suitable as has already been mentioned,
