Exhaust questions

Post by VTRPiG »

Hey guys hope everyone is well, not been on in a while as work and family have kinda gotten in the way. Finally started to tear into the bike a week or so ago, got the exhaust off and discovered the reason for the bike sounding like a tractor was the gasket in the rear exhaust pipe connecting to the collector was pretty much non existent! I spent most of December counting the nuts on the exhaust with WD40 and they thankfully came off pretty easily. Although on three of them the when I unscrewed them the stud had come out with the nut...hopefully that will not pose a problem later on :?

Couple of question, I need new exhaust clamps too and a new clamp where the rear pipe meets the collector does anybody now the sizes off hand?

Also I will be ordering new gasket seals for the headers ( them wee ring jobies ) and can't find any copper ones, cybercarol mentioned that copper were the best. Will the fibre one do?

I am wanting to clean up the headers, what is the best way to do that?

I am at work and wanting to start ordering what I need and I am sure there is more I wanna ask but I am drawing a blank 8O  ..... I guess like most days

Hope everyone has had a good start to their new year and thanks again in advance for any help

best measure with a tape measure / bit of string and a ruler what you require as sizes can slightly differ depending on if you have aftermarket link pipes. Highly recommend corrosion resistant Mikalor W4 fully stainless. > http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mikalor-W4-He ... 1e69297736

You want the OEM style crushable copper ring type

Wet&dry, metal polish and elbow grease

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

I would also replace the studs that came out with SS ones & new nuts. See the link below
