Engine cover bolt sizes and others
by lloydie » Wed Oct 23, 2013 11:55 am

I like to change the rusty steel bolts to stainless steel alen cap heads
If you do the same use washers and copper slip .
I've put together the sizes to dress up your engine covers and hope its of use .

Sump
qty lengh size
1 80mm m5
2 40mm m5
4 35mm m5
5 30mm m5

Sprocket cover
qty lengh size
2 60mm m5
1 30mm m5
1 20mm m5

Clutch cover (not water pump cover )
qty lengh size
6 40mm m5
7 30mm m5

Water pump cover
qty lengh size
3 65mm m5
1 30mm m5

Flywheel cover
qty lengh size
8 45mm m5

Bottom yoke pinch bolt
Qty. length. Size
2. 45mm M10

Tank front bolt
Qty. length. Size
2. 30mm. M5

Starter motor bolts
Qty. length. Size
2. 30mm. M5

Radiator mount bolts
Qty. length. Size
4. 30mm. M5

Air box internal bolts (use thread lock)
Qty. length. Size
8. 15mm. M4

Carb top bolts
Qty. length. Size
6. 15mm. M4

Carb float bowl bolts
Qty. length Size
6. 15mm M5

Brake & clutch clamps (on the bars)
Qty. length. Size
4 25mm. M6

Throttle clamp (right clip on )
Qty. length. Size
2. 25mm. M5

Do you see the error. I just spent £20 on M5 bolts to find they are all M6 :Argue 1: :Argue 1: :Argue 1:

I see the thread has been updated to M6 & I am not sure where I dragged the M5 version from but if it is floating about somewhere it needs to be found & ripped out

I can't see the m5 .
It was updated a few days after the mistake was made .
So not sure where you got the old list from .
Sorry

Ooo I really want to do this. Where is the proper list?

Is there a good place to buy the correct lengths or do you just buy a bulk buy of long ones and cut them to length?
Budget storm gradually on the road to spangliness.

Out of interest what company did you use to source the bolts?

They at least deserve a mention for accepting an exchange
