Anyone know what the outside diameter of the standard headers should be? I think mine's been "flared" to make a better fit for the link pipe for the ART cans. The standard can now won't fit back on, what's the best way of narrowing the header so I can make it fit? Putting the old link pipe back on there's very little join between the two and the fit is sloppy, I wonder if the header has also been shortened slightly.....
Also, do you have to grind out the old gaskets (or will a chisel get them out?) Most of this one is ground away and the pipe still won't fit over the header.

Put some pics up .
43mm the header is where it joins the link pipe .

Yeh a picture would help so we can say whether it's been modified at all. As for the gaskets there's no need for a grinder, Screwdriver/Chisel should be be more than sufficient. If the pipe has been flared then it will need closing up, so some big adjustable grips, something you can squeeze it closed with is what you need. Maybe a vice if you have one, but that would mean removing the header which is not ideal if you have it all back on.

Seems about right, perhaps it's the can then, it came as a spare with the bike but I don't know whether its ever been on it.lloydie wrote:Put some pics up .
