HRC "1/6" throttle tube

I installed the HRC throttle tube on my bike the other day. It's less turn to WOT but not as short a turn as I'd hoped. I'm looking for maybe a turn to WOT thats half or 3/4's to the HRC tube. With even the HRC tube puts my wrist in a cocked position at anything over 3/4 throttle.

Any suggestions

I don't think you will find anything more extreme than the HRC You could try modding it.

IIRC you have the HRC tube right? What do you think of it? I like the variable size tube idea, making in thicker in the later parts of the turn for quicker action for anything above around town riding. Might make for a weird transition tho.

I also removed the push cable while I was in there and slapped on a brand new pull cable. I like the lighter action without the pointless push cable.

I think I'll glue a zip strip around the outside of the tube to get a slightly shorter pull. Just so I don't have to be in a very uncomfortable (and IMO very dangerous) position at WOT. My wrist gets so cocked that I feel like I couldn't make a quick maneuver to avoid danger, should the need arise. Or a big enough bump and I feel like things could go south. I think it's important to feel in control when your at WOT.

Are you sure it's a HRC tube. If you view the bar end side of the throttle and visualise it as a clock face going anti-clockwise, starting at the top 12.00 o clock, WOT is just after 9.00 o clock, so roughly 13mins to the hour.

I find mine more than enough extreme and no longer have wrist issue like I used to get with the standard throttle tube. One of the best mods I have done, that and my later model clip ons.

If the hrc throttle is too long in action fit a motocross one ,I had a quarter turn amal one on one of my bikes it was a bit evil but good on the wrist ,I remember now was on a GS850 chop cos it had apehangers ,don't ask.passed it on to a mate for sidecar racing now that was an evil b8stard GSX1100EF engine,mikuni flatsides,jag fuel pump,so powerful left track at cadwell and took out a marshals shed! lunatic ,rides a zxr750 like he stole it,loved riding with him on the vtr he never shut off,bmw can't hang with him.

Yes the packing said HRC on it. Got if off a gent on speedzilla who lives in Japan. It's about 38mm across the diameter IIRC. I think the stock is around 32mm. It was big enough to require taking a Dremel to the stock housing.

I'll have to check the 12-9 that you suggested. Last night I started wondering if maybe I have become to use to a "cruising" hand position. My thought is that maybe you and most people have there hands positioned further forward. So in your clock example, if you take a reference point on the inside of my hand, let's say it's at 8 oclock with the throttle fully closed. Maybe for others that same reference point with a fully closed throttle is at 11 or 12 oclock. So then WOT for me is more uncomfortable than others? Just a thought.

There should not have been a need to dremmel anything. Slide old one off, slide new one on. I used a CBR 600/1000 HRC throttle tube.

i wonder if mine was bigger. me and other members who had used the same tube had to dremel out the housing for it to be able to rotate. i basically just had to trim down the stops inside the housing as they touched the tube. mine came in a package just like that one although it was i beleive an RC51 HRC tube.

Easy mod to enable better wrist position.

Take off the throttle housing, the bottom section will have a little peg which locates in a hole in the bar. Re drill a new hole (you don't need to go all the way through BTW ) 1/4 '' from the existing hole so that when you reattach the TH it will be cantered forward away from you.

You will have to alter the position of your wrist to start to open but at WOT your wrist will be flatter.

Try it if you dont like it you can put it back to the first hole & back to normal.

It works for me in conjunction with a HRC tube & a wonkey wrist...

Mac, I don't understand that mod. Surely just rotating the throttle housing round the grip makes no difference on its own. Why not just put your wrist in a higher position before you grip!

Or perhaps I am having a blond (grey,) moment

im also gonna try pulling by bars a bit more outward as well as putting my brake and clutch lever a bit more downward so as to try and gt better wrist posistion

i also dont understand that mod because like was said, just moe your wrist before you grip the throttle and that accomplishes the same thing? unless im misunderstanding what your saying

Maybe I haven't explained it correctly...Tis a bit difficult by txt...

Basically by rotating it forward 1/4'' your moving the start point & more importantly the end point of the throttle movement. If you grip it normally it wont make any difference your wrist will still be bent at the funny angle...well yours will mine wont because it cant. So by gripping the grip with my arm more vertically ( which is very unnatural TBH ) when twisting the grip to WOT my arm is flat as is my wrist... Simples...sort of...


Having said all that both bikes are set as standard at the mo. The mod I described I did put on Drooper when the flat bars were on but didn't ride it like it. So just ignore me I'm talking Bollax again...

iv renthals on mine and iv done just what you said a while back. iv moved the starting point further away from me but would still like a quicker action because iv wee short arms
