Hot spot on exhaust cans....

Post by ninja636109 »

I have noticed my sticker on my carbon can company exhausts has melted... Just one??? When the bike is hot that part of the exhaust gets too hot too touch but the rest is fine. Also the other can I could touch no problem. Why do I have a heat spot here?? Do they need repacking?

Sounds like it...scuse the pun. It's worth doing anyway. When was the last time they were done ? If at all.

I did a set of Harris cans I have, the left one only had about a 1/4 of the packing left in it...

I used this guy... http://www.pjengineering.co.uk/products.php?cat=2

Phone him & tell him what cans you have. The packing comes wrapped in cling film you leave it on & the heat contracts it & makes it all nice & snug.
Bit of a pain getting it in but got there in the end. When / if you do it get stainless steel rivets & a nice new sharp drill to drill the old ones out. He sells can straps & things so might have the rivets as well.
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...

Get them re-packed before you blow a hole in the Carbon. Take the baffles out if you have them in as a precaution, you don't want to contain back pressure and hot gases anymore than necessary.
