Better late than never. Hi everyone!

Post by Varastorm »

Hi everyone,

Been a member for a while but thought I would make it legitimate, in the "Inn".

Sorry, but I do not own a VTR FireStorm, I have it's big sister, a 99 carbed Varadero & I joined the forum because of the wealth of knowledge & information availabe from you guys about the possible engine modifications!

I Have had sports bikes for years, but a bad accident put an end to that around a decade ago! Anyway, 7 years later, a friend of mine was selling his Varadero. I bought it and its the longest I have ever kept a bike! I also have a CBR600fy, but it lives under a sheet in the garage.

I have posted all the modifications I have done in detail on the ( http://www.xrv.org.uk/ ) forum. But alas, there is not a lot of like minded people wanting to turn the Varadero into the motard I want.

My dream bike would be a Pikes Peak Multistrada, but I am too tall, fat & poor for one. So I am making my own one out of a Varadero :wtf:

Main mods so far are:

CBR 600fy rear wheel (Pirelli super corsas) Triumph 955 disc.
Blackbird front wheel (Pirelli super corsas) Machined disc faces 2mm, CBR400 discs.
VTR carburettors jetted to 8541Hawk's specification on the SuperHawk forum, excellent BTW.
Renegade exhausts no baffles.
Varadero fork lowers(to keep the calipers), 1980's CR250 stantions (43mm & 4" longer) sleeved Varadero control rods, only 2 of the 4 damper holes drilled through, 100mm cut from springs & 40 wt oil. All this to be able to raise the front to compensate for the reduction in the front wheel diameter. Not keen on fork slugs.
CBR 600 F2 front mudguard.
2" Rear raiser plates with a Hagon Rear shocker.
MFW Vario pegs with 50mm raisers (still scrape).
Renthal trx quad bars & Bark Busters (for the crash).

I have tracked the bike at the Anglesey circuit and it's a hoot, I can out corner most, but I get nailed on the straights........

Thats why I am here, on this site, to make it go faster!

Big thanks to everyone for all the help, information & advice I have already recived. Cheers.

Regards, Varastorm.
