Front engine mounting ....!

Post by Eddieskidmark »

Hi...

How's the best way to get a front engine mounting out.. That's happy where it is and doesn't seem to want to leave....?

No they don't and to be honest if you really don't need to drop the leave it be .

Heat is you best friend and a big ass hammer but you will need a new bolt .
If your lucky it won't take much

Cheers lloydie....

I've bought a new full set of engine mounting bolts.... It was already out the frame when I got my tesco crate delivery...!

But said person had kindly left the short piece in the engine... So is it OK to heat it that much...?

Yeh as Lloyd said plenty of heat and a big hammer. A bit of penetrating fluid and a drift will also help. Just be careful not to set alight to any penetrating fluid like WD if heating up with blow torch.

Think about how much heat gets around that area when the engine is running. So yeh lots of heat is OK. I was going to say cool but that wouldn't make sense  DIY, Butane/Propane mix blow torch should do the job.

That should make alight work of it  It's a good idea to disconnect the thermostat hoses first or better still get all the hoses out the way.
