Hi folks,

I'm just after purchasing a 97 VTR with very low miles. It's yellow - like marmite you either lover or hate the colour. I don’t mind it and it’s grown on me. The bike is in excellent condition overall with only 2 very careful owners. All the bodywork have datatags from new.

My previous bike was a 2005 RSV1000R. I’m finding the stopping power on the front of the VTR a little limited. I’m going to clean pads/disks and also maybe change the brake fluid. Will I need to go down the route of braded lines? If so where is the best option to get a set of lines?

Also, I’m having a vibration from the front when braking at speed. This was screaming out that the front disks was warped but I’m hoping it’s the well worn front tyre that’s giving the feedback. Either way it’s not the end of the world. I plan to put on a new tyre over the coning days.

So what are the dos and don’ts with a VTR.

I am very much a fair weather rider and only get out the odd Sunday. I couldn’t justify have the RSV sitting in the shed and getting out 10 times a year...

Check the bobbins in the front discs are moving freely as well, as this can lead to the same symptoms if they are sticking. Welcome to the club mate

The most important don't is
DONT buy a yellow one as they are very much slower than all the rest even teal !!.
DONT hold 3k revs in first gear and wack the throttle open !!!.
DONT plan a trip without looking at fuel stops
DONT buy a yellow one .

DO'S buy any colour other than yellow.
DO's ride the fecking butt off it .
DO's fine a in door carpark and ride around it at5k in first gear (carpark riot ).
DO'S mod it till your skint and the wife and kids move out then ride free

the brakes can be greatly improved if you fit callipers and master cal for a CBR600F4 [small machining mod needed]….. and braided lines which ever calliper you choose
Juddering could well be the disks warped, but do the tyre and then bobbins check first

What are the cct's and the RR's

Just stuck on a trickle charger connections just now so will keep her topped up. It was a must with the RSV.

Can anyone tell me the following information

What bulb is in the rear ( stop light )? Is there an LED equivilent (T20)?
What is the bulb size of the small light above the Headlight? Looking to put in a Yellow LED
Any headlight mods worth considering?

I said I wouldn't mod the bike but I'm starting already.

Any headlight mods worth considering?

mans motorcycle , avoid at all costs these colours . ... red, blue ,black, orange .. common as muck and less
visible downright dangerous in fact ...
What part of Ireland are you.. be it the South or the North ? ... not that it matters
as you will no doubt find out that you will be able to ride from North or South or vice versa with
much velocity so it doesn't really matter what geographical part of Ireland you reside... brakes are a must
especially on a firestorm or any other powerful motorcycle sort them asap..

From a small town south of the border called Virginia. Bought the bike privatley so I'm just putting together the list as to what's required.

Any suggestions as to where to get a set of lines at the right €€€€/££££

welcome to the forum sir. good to see another fast yellow one on the road. dont listen to the rest on here they just wish there colours went as fast. iv camped at a campsite in your town many years ago, nice part of the country.
