SECRET UNCOVERED

Post by gwaynewk »

I looked around on Ebay for a bargain and by chance won the bid on a 2000 VTR, thinking that a worst case scenario, was to sell it in the spring as the write ups were positive. Picked it up yesterday and did 80 odd miles, those of you on here will already :D know what a tool! and with the carbon cans what a sound. I have over the years had a large number of bikes, but this was the most pleasantly surprising and I look forward to many happy miles.

I am of course a new member to this forum and live in Northumberland, so it would be good to know if there are any members near Ashington. I expect to need advice on the best settings and cheapest service item. It would be good to meet some of the members, do we have a stand at any of the bike shows, perhaps have club runs.

Paul

Greetings - Glad you've found your Stormbeastie and enjoying it!

Have a good read through this http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 23&t=31345 and the Workshop Knowledgebase (pay attention to CCTs and R/R), download the manual and post up some pics of your new Storm.

Welcome to the forum. I'm sure there will be members in your area for rideouts. We do have a rideout section so keep an eye on things in there.

Thanks for the welcome, I will check the cam chain tensioners, if I have auto I will change them, so far on ebay I can find a pair delivered for about £60 from the USA, is there anywhere in this country that does them and what about other service items? filters etc

Kreiger, APE, Bazza and Ade Whitmarsh's CCT's > http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 16&t=22720

Its all in here* where to source 'em and how to fit. As for best value service items - fleabay, Halfords, David Silvers etc.
