cg 125 power house beast

Post by vtrjames »

well i got a cg 125 to run in the snow etc.but....

its a brazil model, a 1989. and it wont charge the battery, it starts no problem, headlight and tail light works off the alternator, with the headlight on i get no voltage to the battery terminal with it disconnected from the battery, with the headlight off i get about 10 volts. so regulator i thought, but there are 2 phases from the alternator 12v in from 1 and 9v from the other.tested the stator as per manual and it looked like that.replaced it and its still the same.it seems the generator is quite poor.is that just life with my old relic or has anyone got any ideas.the workshop manual is terrible as it jumps about to the different models with 6 v and 12 v systems.i thought maybe that someone had fitted a engine out of a 6v bike but i have renewed the stator with a 12v for 85 to 91models.

anyone any ideas apart from make a petrol tank out of solar pannels???
