LED indicators
LED indicators
I've had my led indicators for a year now, i noticed on one of the rear ones there are a couple of led's not working, can you replace them or are new ones needed?
Re: LED indicators
I would imagine the indi's are a sealed unit mate, but even if they not it wouldn't be worth the hassle of trying to find LEDs that are the same and trying to remove and re solder onto the circuit boardscouse645 wrote:I've had my led indicators for a year now, i noticed on one of the rear ones there are a couple of led's not working, can you replace them or are new ones needed?

Re: LED indicators
Thanks, they may have been covered under the guarantee, when i checked what date i bought them it was september 16th last year, buying cheep eh.
Re: LED indicators
For me, lots of led stuff isn't all that! I find it's not as visible as a conventional bulb in sunlight or if you're not pretty much directly in front of them. Also the cheaper stuff doesn't outlast a conventional bulb

Re: LED indicators
I am searching the net as we speak.
Re: LED indicators
A quick question about indicators, do they have to be the same sort front and rear?

Re: LED indicators
Style wise you can mix & match, that's your personal preference.scouse645 wrote:A quick question about indicators, do they have to be the same sort front and rear?
If you mean LED's at one end & bulbs at the other then no you can't. When you fit LED's you either need a new relay or fit in-line resistors.
Mind you if your using in-line resistors with the standard relay I suppose you could run LED's & bulbs at different ends...Someone will be along to correct me if I'm wrong shortly...
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...
Re: LED indicators
I would say you probably could Mac, although I'm no auto electricianMacV2 wrote:Style wise you can mix & match, that's your personal preference.scouse645 wrote:A quick question about indicators, do they have to be the same sort front and rear?

Accept for the inline filters never seem to really work too well.

Re: LED indicators
Thanks all, i have ordered some new led rear ones, they are different from the front, would have got the four but the fronts were not long enough, should be ok though.
Re: LED indicators
Au contraire, I have mixed and matched LED's and lamps, you can also fit extra additional LEDs as well as lamps for extra visibility.
As to the resistors, they work well enough, I have found.
If you want a cheap work around, just fit a lamp insiode the tail unit, cover it with tape to protect it, and wire in parallel with the LED ones.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
