Hello from new member!

Post by DerekH »

Hi just purchased a 1998 VTR1000 in red because I have read it's the fastest colour! I have purchased it from the well known auction site. She looks like new with 7000 miles but has sat in a heated garage for the last 10 years by the one original owner. It has a fuel leak so it's going straight to my local garage to recommissioned. I hope all will work out good? I am keen to get a louder exhaust to hear that lovely sound of the twin, probably a good second hand system but interested in any advice that you guys may have? I will keep you updated on my experiences. Derek :D Hi in response to where I am - Crymych Pembrokeshire West Wales.

Welcome and hello .
There's some really nice cans for sale in the sales thread :-) .

I hope the fuel leak ain't a rusted tank as it has been known to happen when sorted incorrectly ,
I hope it's a good one tho and what you want and at least it ain't yellow or blue

Welcome to the forum. Hope the leak is nothing major. Good find, one owner, very low mileage. Enjoy it and let the mods begin

Hi I was looking at that bike, it's a parallel import with KPH clocks, the fuel leak is from the carbs I think the previous owner mentioned. seems like it's sat with old fuel for too long, drain/clean tank out, remove carbs and for best result get them ultrasonic cleaned, while that's being done replace your cam chain tensioners, this bikes been hardly moved for 10 years, I would not trust the tensioners. other than that it looked a very clean bike.

What's your location ?, there's a few gatherings this year, I can recommend OP Devon storm. http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 14&t=35592

Wow that's very low mileage! Look after it and it will give you more smiles per mile than you ever thought possible.

Welcome along :)
