Another new face / sheep to the fold / lamb to the slaughter
Hi, I'm new to the site. I joined because I'm considering another Firestorm.
I've owned two in the past and I think that they must be the best value bike out there.
I also considered an RSV1000 but I am unfamiliar with them...I know what a vtr goes like.
I know some of their inherent faults and problems...(or as owners usually know them - foibles and charm)... but regardless, I still think they really can't be beaten in the 'Bang-for-buck' stakes.
I will be keeping an eye out for a bike in about a month or two. In the meantime if you are considering selling your steed, let me know. I have owned a black one in about 2002 and a yellow one in 2010.
Really, I'd like a red one this time...with bronzey-gold Ducati-esque wheels...open cans...uprated brakes...manual cam chain adjusters...carb model(jetted)... with a bigger tank(is that even possible?)...colour matched rear seat cowl... suspension that actually moves up and down and jacked up a little at the back end please, to get 'the look'. FINALLY (crucially) brakes that are not warped! @£1200 anyone?

The tyre didn't make it to Scotland and back. One of my friends flagged me down and told me I had something stuck to my tyre. I did, it was the belts showing through. ... I had a new one put on at a fitters near Knockhill before I set off home.
I would have sworn that that tyre would have got me there and back...
I'm in Settle, North Yorkshire if you are ever in this neck and need a brew.

Seen it, text him, got a reply this morning!countrymick wrote:welcome mate there was a red aniversory model on gumtree last week gold wheels proflex shock £2000 might be worth a look for you.
I asked him about it's history and he said he took it in part-ex for his blade 6 months ago.
Not very forthcoming. He knew nothing of it's cam chain tensioners or much else it seems. It ticks most of the boxes however - might be worth investigating...
Thanks for the heads up - and all the welcomes.

oh, and yes a 19ltr tank would be good...I prefer carbs that's all.

Re: Another new face / sheep to the fold / lamb to the slaug
welcome to the forum buddy.
all firestorms used carbs...
imho you ain't going to get all those things for £1200, late model bikes are around the £2000 mark, I did see a red one on ebay for £1800 that looked interesting.

there are bargains out there, but in recent months prices have started to creep up, maybe the words finally got out that the vtr is a great road bike for not much money.

I stand corrected. I thought the later bikes were injected like the SP1/2's
I have only ever owned the early model Firestorm and an SP2 nothing in between.
