Unless you have fitted high compression pistons, skimmed the heads or run an ignition advancer it's a waste of time and money.
If you have made these changes it's essential....
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I have tried 98 with my track bike to see if I could notice any difference, but it seemed to perform the same so I stick with 95.

I think mine does slightly more to the gallon with the good stuff but that may be all In my head

As Tony says unless you have a modified engine there is no need for the good stuff. You're just wasting money. Put a drop of good stuff in now and again as it contains extra cleaning additives but don't expect the engine to perform any better or fuel to last longer unless you include Placebo Effect. Actually it will most likely run a little worse.

I put Premium Unleaded in my Strom, its suggested here in Oz.
But.... one day, i didn't have any in the workshop and tipped some old Standard Petrol in, the bike went better than it ever had!!
Lifting the front wheel out of corners that it didn't normally do.... So stuffed if i know.

Might try some lawn mower fuel next ;)

Not sure what options you guys have for Petrol, we have 3 here;
E10 - Standard with 10% Ethanol
Unleaded
Premium Unleaded - Which mostly comes with the companies detergents mixed in it (Shell, BP, etc)

Apparently the best fuel here in Oz, is to find a Petrol Station that just sells pure Premium Unleaded, before its blended with detergent crap in it. Not many around and really, who knows what it is anyway.
3 out of 5 people are not the other 2.

Tried super unleaded in mine when I first got it as I wondered if it would make any difference, and it did!

It ran worse, but started a little easier. Never bothered again.

In my experience it works in some engines but not in others.
Running super unleaded in RF900s I noticed a very slight improvement together with an increment improvement in mpg. Trouble was, the extra cost kind of cancelled it out. They are mental old engines though. 8O
I'll try it in the storm somewhen..

I usually stick the BP ultimate stuff in on payday, then normal for the rest of the month. No difference in power and a very minor (usually like 1mpg) economy improvement, but I just do it for the cleaning additives.

For my 2penn'orth I stick a capful of 99% acetone in every tank of normal cheapo, i also do this with my 2.8 td mitsi, I find they both run smoother with a bit more omph, seems to improve mpg as well

The best way to look at this issue is that you want to run the lowest octane rating that allows proper engine operation.

I say this for a simple reason.
In order to raise the octane rating they use additives.
All good but it is not gasoline.

So with lower octane ratings, yes you get less additives but more gasoline per liter.

Gasoline not additives is what makes power.

So in reality lower octane fuel can make more power as there is more of what burns and less additives to control the burn per set volume.

I found no difference in the VTR but the KTM950 Supermoto spits proper good flames out of the exhaust on Super unleaded !!!

The KTM does have all the emissions and limiters removed but is a carb fed v-twin so quite similar so I`m surprised at the difference....
Guessing there is just less limiting the fuel going in when snapping the throttle closed and therefore burning in the exhaust ?
