G'day from Down Under

Hello from Perth, Western Australia! I joined here a while ago doing pre purchase research, now I am happy to return an owner. In the absence of a paint code, I will assume its Italian Red, 2006 VTR1000 with Jardine RT-1 high mount cans, K&N filter and jetted accordingly. It has done 130 kms in 2 years, the clutch fluid had turned to a gel like sludge, and the brake fluid not much better. Henceforth I have decided to pull the carbs off to make sure float bowls and jets are not gummed up.

This forum has been a huge help so far, and I'm sure will continue to be. Hopefully I can contribute in the future.

A very nice looking bike 8)
A good idea to go through things seeing as the clutch and brake fluid are in that state.

Welcome aboard from down under :thumbup:

Chris.

Thanks guys. Here's a photo of the clutch window when I bought the bike;

I also put a post up in the 'Starting engine' thread about the brass replacement fitting on the choke cable (starter valve). I broke 1 on disassembly. I think I need to have made 10 posts to be able to PM gl_s_r.

Hey guys, thanks! Got all the little stickers off now so looks even better! Need to get a pic but its on a stand in the shed doing the carbs and ccts at the moment. Not licensed to ride it, so having it on a stand helps remove temptation.....

Welcome. Do not trust what the sight glass shows. Almost all of Honda's fluid sight glasses are yellow and fogged up. I had a buddy that devised a method of of replacing the sight glass with a wrist watch crystal and super glue. It worked but I never cared enough to try it.

Everyone breaks those paper mache choke brackets.

The window is not yellowed, but full of gunk. That reservoir window opened up to this;

So I tend to trust whats in the window!
