Harris rearset pegs or re-knurl?

Post by NZSpokes »

My pegs for my Harris rearsets are very slippery. Does anybody have some kicking about or where is the best place to buy a new set.

I believe the ones I have are 50th anniversary ones so can I have them knurled again?

Thats a great idea. I want longer ones if I could get them so I could just get them made longer.

It'll be interesting to hear your quotes for a set of copies... I don't think the cost new is that bad at all. Shame they keep changing the designs.

Why ask... sometime you just go to do it and find out?

I have the same problem with my Gilles pegs, the Knurl tips are getting worn down so less grip in the wet, bur that took 2yrs.

as an interim solution I have swapped them side to side as Ii wear the front edge more than the rear, will see if I can get the workshop to make some replicas.

Mine are worn all over. They are Jamie's old ones, god knows what he did to them.....

They may have been slid inside an orifice a few too many times so your pegs are no longer ribbed

+1 on the change of designs. I have just received the following which I have to put on. Not too keen on the plastic end cap but being round may have it's pro's and cons. I'm thinking pro in the sense that they may not snap as easily as the original half moon shape ones that have the recess cut out inside them. And con (contradiction here) in that they may not snap as easily at the right point which obviously one wants to happen if it means saving the rest.

I have snapped two now (half moon originals) and the first one snapped where I believe they are designed to snap at the mounting point where it bolts on. The second snapped further along the peg almost halfway along. I wonder if the round ones would snap halfway along the peg.

I shall now see how I get on with the round ones.

Here you go. The first two (broken peg, well....half a peg  ) is the original. And the last one is the newley designed purchased one from eBay which I believe is a copy of the genuine Harris newer design.

Mine are full round, not half round.

Wonder if the free P&P applies to me.

It will, if you live over here.
