Another yellow aussie storm.

Post by rinsclassic »

Hi all joined up a while ago when I got the storm.
this place is a great source of info.
anyway a bit about my tank.
it's a banana 2001 vtr 100 with the most amount of miles I have ever seen on a bike.165.000 km or 100.000 miles.
The highest iv had before this is 70k on a 89 cbr 1000f.
then 47k on a98 900 blade.
so I swapped this for my high milage pajero
it ran like a pig when I got it when warm it just coughs and splatters.
so I started with a carb clean tweak and balance.
then reset the timing gear as it was a tooth out on front exhaust cam did the stopper mod to both tensioners.
Runs a lot better but still needs to ride in third gear at 60 kays. Because its jerky. And also it jumps out of second gear on light throttle but stays in if your hard on the throttle. So after two weeks of owning it I thought it needs to sell I'm getting a in line 4 again.
but now 4 weeks in I am starting to like it .
dam thing has grown on me
oh and I bought new heavy clutch springs to try and stop this annoying clutch grab it does if I use any wrist on take off.

welcome to the forum buddy, clutch grab is almost impossible to eliminate, and as for jumping out of gear, that's never good. but as you say these bikes grow on you and find a place in your heart, so keep addressing the issues and you'll end up with a keeper....
