Technically they don't. They are owned by J&s now but some branches retained the hg brand unlike J&s, hg still have sales on.

shame they shut. They had a good range in southampton and it was good kit. I had a set of textiles for years and quality was good for the money.

There boots were ok too. not keen on J and S tbh.
missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!

I've been using their Gore-Tex gear for 10 years now and I swear by it. They seem to only sell the Sheltex stuff now (probably just because the Gore-Tex gear is very expensive and they don't sell as many).

They had the Tourist 2 STX jacket in the sale on Monday for £160 (down from £329) so I ordered one and it arrived yesterday. I'll see for myself how it compares to my Gore-Tex jacket. (it is no longer listed at £160 on the website BTW).

So, does that mean that J&S (beside poundstretchers) on Great Northern Road in Aberdeen used to be Hein Gericke?" If so, I never knew that! Passed this shop a few times heading to Macgowans (now Ecosse in Hutcheon St), but never been in, having been told J&S were too bloody expensive!

Yes. That place used to be HG.

When they had their closing down sale I got a bargain on kit for my daughter.

If you are on the look out for gear in Aberdeenshire then Huntly motorcycles is selling off their stock as the current owner is selling up.

John Landale owns Huntly, and I've known of him for donkeys, but haven't been out that way or spoken to him for ages. I've bought a fair amount of stuff on and off over the years from him, but he's a really miserable bugger (more grumpy than me!). Even when he knows you, it always a dour face yer greeted with! I wanted to buy a black Yam TRX, and he walked away when I asked him to wheel it outside for a listen to and look over, and went back to the working on the ramp bike! Deep down tho, he's a good egg.

It's a shame he's selling up. I did see a lot of bits a while back on ebay, and thought it was strange him selling on there, as he swore he'd never do it, as he didn't need to.

But, times are bloody hard everywhere, and it's sad to hear another north east bike shop is on the way out if no-one takes it over from him. :(
