Right guys, just to bring things up to date. I now have a gear change lever on it's way to me, well it should be with me next week. So providing it's as good as it's meant to be, then I will be sorted. I'll update when I know for sure,

It can't be that bad if you only just noticed it
No mistaking mine, it wasn't the easiest to change gear after that mod
Yours should straighten out okay Mac if it's only slightly bent. I used heat on mine, but the bit that makes contact with your boot when changing gear still snapped off. As my missus said "it was a bend too far"
