Stripped the knackered alarm off my rear loom yesterday which now needs to go back together.
The alarm wirers were all soldered onto the various wires so I cut them off close to the original wire as I could. Can I get away with bodging the exposed wires with shrink wrap and insulation tape or should I strip them all out and replace completely?

Only one wire is actually split which I will have to use connectors. The rest are intact but had the insulation stripped off.fabiostar wrote:decent bullet connectors and do the job right the once..it will come back to haunt you if you dont.

wire them into a chocolate block, then seal with some waterproof grease etc and cover with heat shrink don't burn the grease off .freeridenick wrote:Only one wire is actually split which I will have to use connectors. missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!

Or just sellotape them and never ride in the rain, or take it through a car wash for a bet.
No, I wouldn't either but back in the day a mate sellotaped the wiring on his BSA 650 Flash and then took it through the car wash for a bet, it never ran again but he won his £5 bet......

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Electrics: bodge or replace
I can't see the point in cutting wires which are not already cut if you can get heat shrink sleeving over the exposed bits,
Chris.

I have a loom untouched. Maybe we could trade them. As I need to cut mine down. I can trace them back and make good
