caliper seals

ok so iv a nice set of fireblade front brakes to put on. stripped and cleaned but heres the problem!!. i need the seals that fit between the two halves of the calipers. one per caliper but can i find a set. i dont wana buy a whole seal kit just to get these two we rubber seals ffs .

can they be got separate? has anybody got any?

the seals i have seem to have ballooned up and are twice the size they used to be..

Can you not take them from the callipers your replacing or are they the ones that have swelled up ?

jesus im even more confussed now lol... that list mac has the vtr and fireblade using the same seals?? .

iv my standard calipers which i dont wana pull apart incase i cant get these bitches of fireblade ones to bleed. which iv been trying to do for about two months on and off now lol..lord only knows how but the seals look twice the size they should be .

mmm the picture in the second link looks just like what i have.....

ay that list mac put up seems to show pretty much every honda in the world uses the same caliper joint seal... which is what came outa the calipers? il have a look at those sires and see if i can make sense of them before they end up in a bin lol

While you've got the calipers apart to the extent of splitting them then it'd be a good opportunity to also refurbish & replace the piston seals as well - and it looks you get the internal seals as well.

If you are having problems bleeding them you might also want to consider getting new bleed nipples / copper banjo washers all round.

happy days found the number i needed and ordered them from silvers... they have been fully rebuilt just before i got them. i only split them to clean them and only noticed today when i was putting them back together the seal joints appeared twice the size they used to be?. iv new bangos and washers all ready to go

Silvers get most of there stock from the place I listed CMSNL, then they add there bit on top + have top $ shipping rates to add on as well.

Same part, more expence from DS...

Lot's of parts are interchangeable between bikes, saves money for the construtors. The callipers may be different in lots of ways but some parts will be the same on both...The joining seal, pad pin, calliper bolts, the cap screw & the bleed nipple. VTR only uses 1 pin & cap but they are still the same.

ay mac i had a good look at those lists and as you say pretty much everything is used on every model..

lets just see when the seals arrive if these ..god dam wombles calipers will bleed once and for all

the calipers in question are my old 1998 blade jobbies which I didn't end up using, they had been fully checked over by our resident brake guru of Essex, you might know him as the ginger bearded one......

I've got a set of them seals drying out .
I left them in brake cleaner to long and they went the size of polo mints !!!

can't go wrong with new seals.....
they are a nice set of calipers, but iirc I sold them way to cheaply.....
