Bridgestone Battlaxe s21 ???????

Post by cheekykev »

Has anyone got a set of Bridgestone Battlaxe s21 tyres fitted, if so what's your view of them ?
I'm in need of some new tyres for my 1998 FireBlade, and due to it having a 16" front wheel the tyre choice is very limited, I have Dunlop Qualifier 2s fitted at the moment and have no complaints, I just wouldn't mind a change, the only tyres I can find with a 16" front fitment are:-
Dunlop Qualifier 2s
Metzler Sportec M3's
Pirelli Diablo
Maxxis
Bridgestone Battlaxe s21
So has anyone used any of the above, and what's your comments on them, I'm after sticky stuff for the road, no track use, no commute, just pleasure rides out, not bothered about wearing quick, I'd rather have good grip.

The only 2 worth considering imo on your list are the Pirelli Diablo and the S21, I think the Diablo will edge it on grip and feel but the Bridgestone will last a bit longer.

Other tyres available in 130/70/16

Avon 3D sport ultra
Bridgestone BT016 Pro
Bridgestone S20

if it was my bike I'd have the Pirelli as I much prefer them to Bridgestone's, plan on 2 rears to one front, they are cheaper than Bridgestone too.

Of the Bridgestone options newest is S21 (and most expensive) But the other 2 are still good tyres if you like Bridgestone's.

The only tyres available in the size for the front are listed in the first 2 posts. Rosso2 not available. Fireblade Not Firestorm

I have S21s on my bike.

Replaced a set of T30s Bridgestones that I got 9000klms out of.

I have found the 21s to be a big improvement.

Great grip, nice smooth ride, and excellent when leaned over.

These tyres give excellent feedback and have made the bike feel more settled, especially as the speeds increase. They handle the rough stuff much better as well.

Everyone's bike is set up differently but these tyres are the best I have had on the VTR.

It has had Michelin Pilot Powers, a couple of sets of D209 Dunlops and the Bridgestone T30s.

The S21 tyres leave all off the above for dead.

I can't vouch for how they will wear as it is early days for me with these tyres and I doubt if they will last as long as the T30s but I don't care as the all round improvement to the way the bike now handles is worth the trade off!

Try them.
