Hello from a Newbie
Hello to all members here on the VTR1000 forum. I have just bought a 1997 Firestorm and am under no illusions that I will be calling upon your services for advice and guidance over the next few months. Not the best start with my bike, as it broke down on the way home which was luckily just a loose battery connection, but of course I had no tools to fix it (lesson learned). I shall be looking at getting my hands all over the bike and assessing it properly, including checking whether the cam chain tensioners have been replaced, checking the rectifier and other bits and pieces. It needs a couple of tyres on it and was thinking Michelin Pilot Road 2s or 3s. Anyone have any comments upon these tyres or have some better suggestions? I read that the suspension is over-soft on these bikes but mine seems quite hard so I wonder if it has already had some attention. I'm not happy with the front brake performance, either, so that will probably be top of the list for now. Thanks again, Tomster.

Welcome aboard buddy
You will get plenty of opinions with regards to tyres
I use Avon Storm, they do just fine

Welcome aboard Tomster
The front brakes are not too bad if working correctly, so a service might be on the cards,
Chris.

Hi there great bunch here, always helpful. Enjoy.

hello and welcome.
I am a big fan of the Pilot road 2s, they work well in cold and wet and also will cope withg a track day, what more do you need?
rear suspension will be too hard, front will be too soft as standard. if its hard at both ends someone has put stronger springs in or thicker oil.
enjoy

Thanks very much for the welcome and your replies, guys. I appreciate you all taking the time to look and comment. I have added a photo today after finally managing to access my photobucket account. I am from Cumbria, by the way. I should probably have said that.
