Front end/wheels etc possibly ?

Post by popkat »

I'm thinking of building another classic race bike and looking at early VFR750, the rules would allow me to fit forks up to 43mm and wheels up to 3.5"fr and 5.5"rear.. Firestorm parts I think would fit the bill... So has anyone got forks, wheels, discs, master cylinder, some 954/600f4 brake calipers and matching master cylinder ?????.. all got to be cheap 8O this will be a budget race bike build, I'm looking for a bike and even that I won't pay much for as in around £400 as a start point for the project...

Has the Mac cave got any parts ?

If it gets built it'll give you lot something to do on the odd weekend cheering on the back marker

Could be, good to know they're there. Need to find a bike to start with first, are you using stock master cylinder with blade calipers on any of the other bikes and the brembo shod one ??

The Brembo's are on New Red & that curently has a SP M/C on it but has a posh aftermarket adjustable M/C waiting to go on.

Then there's Smerkin Joe awaiting it's F4i calliper transplant with a S1000r radial M/C...

The new Balck one known as Dresden came with std callipers but with a 929 M/C...ratio was all wrong, the lever felt very wooden...the brakes worked just felt wrong...Sorted by sticking a set of F4i callipers on that I just happend to have in stock...hahahaha

So the std ones need the std M/C, the upgrage Blade/sp/F4i M/C alters the ratio which is then wrong for the std callipers. Or if you put the upgrade callipers on the std M/C will be wrong...

FYI the SP, Blade 929 & F4i callipers are all the same apart from the colour. SP gold, 929 silver & F4i black, the F4i M/C is a black rectangular type the others are the round pot.

F4i...

Cheaper from the States but only if you have a contact to avoid the horrendous postage & customs charges...! But generally less salt corosion as std...

I couldn't pass that off a VFR750 and it does look a bit too powerful for me

Couldn't have put it better myself   I'd like to know how he got the Ducati pistons in. Aren't they oval. What a joker. I like the Gold frame though.

Pops,
I have a full front end, forks, headstock, wheel with discs, fender, except the calipers in the garage if of interest. It's all going up for sale soon. First dibs if you want them. I'll sort out photos this weekend.
Don't hassle me
I'll get there at some time

More than likely I'll have a set of forks and front discs going spare after the weekend if grumpyfrog's have gone by the time you need them.

I'll likely have a complete set of SP1 yolks too.

All that work Tony did to his bike, and all he had to do was put bigger gold Ducati pistons in it, 190hp !! he should work at Revolution racing, Roger never got that out of his staged VTR's.

We have been arguing over the fastest colour, we never considered that gold was the fastest :)
