SOLD VW Golf - anyone interested

Post by BigVeeGrin »

We have too many cars in our lives now so one has to go and that's the 53 plate VW Golf. Before I go full on Gumtree or wherever I thought I'd offer first dibs to any Stormers.

Briefly - 2004, 1.4 petrol, 3 door, dark blue, we're third owners*, 105K, 10 months MOT. Serviced every year. It's hardly used these days and previous owners were residents where we used to live - first one a lady, then an elderly gent. We saw a local post office ad and got it for my son to learn in. He's a very careful driver (still is - sticks to speed limits like .....), had a black box fitted, and it has been passed between him and me the past couple of years - we've done 40k or so over the last four years. He's currently got our Nissan X-Trail but no longer needs it so I'm getting that back. Hence the sale.

It's 12 years old so is a mixture of good points and signs of wear.

Upside - runs well, pretty economical, bodywork in v good condition, no signs of rust or anything, and mechanically pretty sound. Comes complete with sub and I'll prob leave the bluetooth Sony CD/radio etc in if it's someone here. New battery a few months ago, new rear exhaust a month or so ago, new catalytic converter a couple of years ago.

No so upside - it's a bit tired in places. Only issue really is the locking. It centrally locks fine, doesn't unlock. You have to do it manually and then get in and start within 20/30 seconds otherwise the alarm goes off. It was suggested it's a sensor is faulty and thinks it's unlocked when it's not so prevents the central unlocking. Beyond my abilities and tbh I can live with it to save getting an auto-electrician on it. Other is cosmetic - the council bin lorry scraped the side and rear light cluster, although I have no direct evidence for this so no claim made against them, and internally things like the gear lever gaiter and bits of dash are worn.

Looking around at similar I was thinking around £500??? If anyone's interested PM me

thanks

Here's a pic Image

No such creature exists, nice man from Coventry! I'm more likely to believe you sold it to a pheonix or a unicorn!

I have to say, having forgotten about the man dog beast, it was a joy meet the hound in person. Have to say it was all as imagined. Mind you, I did raise an eyebrow and start to wonder/fear once I saw a pink garage door, blinged up toilet and light switches, and a large fluffy cat in the Coventry alpha male den  8O
