I wouldn't trust using the key
Much better to use cybercarl write up on fitting mcct in the workshop section
What is the mcct made from Alloy/stainless steel ?

In the end the key is only for removing the genuine one, it's the same as the genuine tensioner key.
This is item description:

•This ultimate manual cam chain tensioner is a direct replacement for the following bikes:
Honda VTR1000 1998 - 2001 and 2003 - 2005
•If your engine has a rattle the auto cam chain tensioner could be failing.
•This tensioner can improve acceleration response and prevent the timing chain from jumping
•The billet body is a rigid design, anodised silver for an oem look and corrosion resistance.
•2 internal radial seals prevent any oil or pressure from even reaching the lock nut. No oil leakage.
•Sturdy precision stainless steel adjuster and locking nut with a serrated face to prevent it from working loose
•Included is 2 replacement stainless steel fixing bolts and a stainless steel tool which allows you to remove the original tensioner safely

Price of one - Looks like either the new version of the US made APE tensioner or a copy

IIRC didn't another member on here purchase some of these manual CCT's not so long ago :?: only to find out the plunger part was too short for the Storm. I think this problem was rectified, and modified CCT's were sent out. Anyone else remember this or saved the link :?:

For any difference in costs, just buy the APE ones. I did nearly ten years ago now and they have been faultless. Same with reg/rec replacements, just buy a decent one rather than fannying about with cheap Chinese eBay rubbish. You only need to do it once if you do it right the first time. That doesn't apply in the bedroom btw.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

The VTR is the only 18 year old that I can get my leg over and give a good hard ride, certainly! (and sadly)

I bought a set of these, haven't fitted them yet and not likely to until spring has sprung.
I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!

Erm....if you haven't fitted them till spring has sprung, isn't it too late then?

VTR Confucius, He say: ''If spring has already sprung, CCT has gone kapoot''

(I'll get me coat.... :whatever )
If it ain't broken...f*ck about with it until it is.
