Need to borrow a clutch holding tool for an SP2

I only need it for one job so there's not much point buying one.

Anyone near Norf Kent or Clapham that's got one to lend?
Happy to pay a deposit.

The universal clamp type will do the job, the laser-cut ring type is better, but you need one for each clutch size. i have one for the Storm, (on loan from Wicky!) but the SP is bigger.

Tony, I know you like to mess so here's a get out of jail card I've used before, a bit hard to explain but I'll try.
Get some flat bar, say 25mm x 6mm and about 300mm long, drill them in the middle ie 150mm bolt them together like a pair of scissors, at the same end of each bar bend a tab over at 90 degrees, now open the scissors up and put the tabs into the teeth of the clutch basket, next you've got a choice of either welding, or bolting another flat bar across the two tail ends (kind of like the handle end if they were scissors, opposite the tab ends) this will hold it all together for you while you do what you have to

That works, Kev. I made some a few years back but only had 3mm thick strap to hand- it bent in use, so I borrowed the EBC tool from Wicky, which is perfect for the job.

I could buy a universal pair, but tbh I only need one for the one job- I don't plan to get into the engine the way I did with the Storm.

But this afternoon I went to check on my SP spares, and I have some friction plates and some plain plates, and so I can drill these together to make something if I can't borrow something.
I'd rather not destroy a good set of plates, but if I have no other options, that'll get me out of trouble.

Erm...I used to keep one of those things in my back pocket. Really useful so it was. Has a handle, and a small chain already fitted. Only has a foot of reach, but that was plenty! Thinking back, I don't think I ever used it on an actual oil filter!
