Leads, coils and plug caps.

Post by vegie »

So, I am unfortunately a genuine parts man. My bike is near on 20 years old and thought it time to replace the coils and plug leads - just because I wanted to.

I have never changed these on a bike before, and when I ordered them, it turns out the coil with leads and the plug caps are separate parts.

So I have 4 parts - 2 x coils and leads, and 2 x spark plug caps.

Does the lead from the coil simply 'push' into the cap as far as possible, or is there a joining method that needs to be done?

Thanks for your help with such a newbie question.

If they're anything like my ST1100, the caps have a screw inside that will screw onto/into the conductor. So push the lead into the cap (keeping it straight) and start turning, until it all goes tight.
